We toss around the term ‘narcissist’ flippantly at times as we talk about politicians and television personalities, annoying colleagues or celebrity pastors. Narcissism doesn’t describe a person, created in God’s image, but a pattern of relating that can be grandiose, unempathetic, egocentric, manipulative, and abusive, at times. Let’s take a closer look at narcissism, beyond our typical caricatures and judgments, to better understand what fuels it, how it shows up, and how we might navigate it in our lives.
